Since 2007, ParklandGEO acted as the geotechnical consultant to IDL Projects Inc. and provided materials engineering and testing for the site grading at the J.V. Drivers facility in Leduc, AB. The project included underground service installation, general site grading, building pad fill placement, cast-in-place concrete piles, asphalt testing and other general site work. Several geotechnical investigations were also performed.
ParklandGEO was involved in all stages of the site construction, completing density testing on site fills, monitoring pile installation, and performing concrete tests on piles, building pads and overhead crane pads. Over 200 straight shaft and belled concrete piles were used for the building foundation, with approximately 80 concrete tests performed. Several hundred density tests were also done by ParklandGEO throughout the site. ParklandGEO also performed asphalt mix design review and asphalt testing for the parking lot and access areas.
The main ParklandGEO staff responsible for this project were Mike McCormick as project manager, Candice Karas as field supervisor, as well as Alex Thomson and Conor Johnson as inspectors and materials testers.
