In the summer of 2008, ParklandGEO was commissioned to be the geotechnical consultant for the replacement of a truss bridge in the County of Wetaskiwin, AB. The scope of work for this project included drilling 2 boreholes to assess the subsurface conditions at the site as well as performing select soil testing at ParklandGEO’s Sherwood Park Laboratory. The drilling information was used to design recommendations for foundation design, slope stability and construction practices.
The results of the geotechnical investigation revealed favorable subsurface conditions including sand and gravel and shallow bedrock. Due to the nature of the soils at the site, recommendations for steel driven or Continuously Flight Auger pile foundations were prepared.
The ParklandGEO personnel responsible for this project include Mike McCormick as senior engineer and Jamie Paul as project manager.
